Project Description

Titan Roofing was the general contractor on the first two phases of this restoration project of epic proportions (and is currently a subcontractor on the ongoing fourth phase).

The project involved complex scaffolding, slate, tile roofing, architectural terra-cotta replacement, masonry repointing, structural skylight replacement, structural steel, historic window restoration, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, historic glazing replacement and decorative interior finishes.  All of the work was performed while the building was fully occupied.

•A project profile was published by the architect (James Jamieson, AIA) and engineer (Niklas W. Vigener, PE).

•The Preservation League of New York State honored this project with its prestigious Excellence in Historic Preservation Award 2003.

•The project was the subject of a PBS documentary entitled "Flood of Light - Restoring New York's Capitol Roof."

One of the tower crane operating engineers for the project (Marianne Rafferty) profiled the project on her website with some impressive views of the work.
